We are entering into new phase of peace, stability in FATA: Governor

Peshawar: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Sardar Mahtab Ahmad khan has said that we are entering into the new phase of peace, stability and prosperity adding that integrated and comprehensive process of development has been initiated in FATA.

He said that the journey of progress of the tribal region started and revolution of prosperity and development will be ushered on the completion of mega projects worth billions of rupees in Federal Administered Tribal Areas.

He was talking to the notables and elders of the province who called on him here at Governor House on Wednesday. Besides, Ex-Governors Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Lt. General ® Sayyed Iftikhar Hussain Shah, Commander Khalil ur Rehman, Barrister Masood Kausar, Engineer Shaukatullah, Ex-Chief Minister KP, Pir Sabir Shah, Senator Iqbal Zafar Jhagra, Advisor to Prime minister, Engineer Ameer Maqam, senior bureaucrats, elders and notables of the province and others were also present on the occasion.

Speaking at the occasion, the Governor Sardar Mahtab said that Governor said that maintenance of lasting peace was the top most priority of the incumbent Government. He said we are committed to uproot the wave of militancy and terrorism throughout the country once and for all.

Governor said that peace has been restored in FATA due to the great sacrifices of patriotic tribesmen, civil administration and Pak Army. He said efforts were being made to ensure the successful and dignified return of the TDPs to their homes on priority basis.

He said we have achieved success and steps have been taken for the return and rehabilitation of TDPs and development of the tribal areas. He said steps have been taken to ensure the reconstruction and development of the tribal region. He said more than 900000 TDPs has been repatriated to their homes with honour. He said that all the TDPs would be sent back to their homes at the end of this year.

He said we have involved the cellular companies in the disbursement of transport and return cash grant in order to ensure transparency of funds and to make TDPs the major beneficiary. Proper standard operating procedures have been developed in order to ensure the cash amount in the transparent and dignified manner, he added.

Governor said incumbent government was committed to reduce poverty and get rid of backwardness and raise the living standard of the people. He said that development work in FATA is under process through comprehensive strategy to get rid the backwardness. He said that steps have been taken for the provision of the employment opportunities in FATA. He said steps been taken to enhance technical skills among the FATA youth and  more than 20000 tribal youth in this regard have been trained.

Governor said we had also launched the interest free loans scheme in Federal Administered Tribal Areas for which more than Rs 1 billion as credit would be provided to the deserving and poor people of tribal areas so that they could start their own business.

He said in order to provide the civic facilities to the tribal people we have established Municipal Committees in Bara, Wana, Meeranshah and Mirali tehsils of tribal areas adding that local bodies will also be established in the tribal region soon.

Governor said that the historic Bara Bazar has been reopened and formal business activities would be started here on February 05 this month. He said steps been taken to enhance and  provide the better facilities to traders at Torkham border and more trade routes will be established in FATA to enhance the trade and business related activities with Afghanistan.

Governor said periodical land settlement system has been established for the effective and expeditious resolution of land disputes in tribal areas.

He said to ensure the law and order in tribal region our levis force was fully equipped and modern training has been given to the 30 percent Levy personnel in each tribal area. He said we had already launched Fata mineral policy to encourage local and foreign investors to the tribal region.

He said the mineral policy was meant to develop the mineral industry of Fata by ensuring transparency in issuance of lease agreement and creating conducive environment that will encourage and benefit the tribal people. He said steps have been taken to ensure the proper implementation of mineral policy in FATA.

He said tribesmen had rendered great sacrifices and paid heavy price for peace of the entire region and now the time has come to take concrete steps for their welfare.

He said we have also established fool-proof system for monitoring of schools and health centres in FATA to ensure the attendance of the teachers and other staff and now situation has been improved in these sectors.

Governor said mega developmental projects have been started in FATA especially to improve and provide the better Education and Health facilities. He said   recruitments are made through NTS purely on the base of merit in FATA.

Meanwhile Governor along with the others visited the Governor house and reviewed the work progress for the restoration and conservation of historic building. The ex-Governors also appreciated the efforts of the present Governor for the development of tribal region. Governor also hosted the luncheon in the honour of Ex Governors and other notables at Governor House.
