4 killed, 29 injured in Peshawar Meena Bazaar mosque blast

Peshawar: At least four people were killed and 29 other injured in a bomb blast inside a mosque at Meena Bazar of Peshawar on Saturday.

The blast occurred inside Chustia Mosque situated in Narrow Street of Meena Bazar. The blast occurred when the faithful were offering Zuhar prayer. The injured were rushed to Lady Reading Hospital where condition of three injured persons was stated to be serious.

The blast damaged the Mamber and Mehrab as well as other parts of the mosque. Prayer Leader PesheImam was also died in the blast.

According to Bomb Disposal Unit three to four KG explosive and ball bearing were used in the blast while the explosive was detonated with remote control.

Soon after the blast rescue workers rushed to the blast site. The dead and injured were rushed to Lady Reading Hospital Peshawar, where emergency has been declared. The locals also shifted the dead and injured to the hospital.

The security forces rushed to the blast site and cordoned off the area.

Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Amir Haider Khan Hoti and Governor Engineer Shaukatullah have strongly condemned the blast and directed the hospital officials to provide better treatment to the injured.
