CM directs commissioners to take visible measures to put an end to adulteration

Peshawar: Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Pervez Khattak has directed the divisional commissioners and deputy commissioners to take effective and visible measures to put an end to adulteration, hoarding, smuggling, illegal profiteering, illegal encroachments and to improve the system of traffic and sanitation is their respective divisions and districts so that the public could be given maximum relief in the holy month of Ramazan.

He was chairing a meeting of divisional commissioners and deputy commissioners at his office on Monday. The meeting reviewed in detail the progress made by the commissioner and deputy commissioners on the implementation of the directives issued by the chief minister.

The chief minister directed the commissioners to activate the price review committees at divisional and district level to have the check on the price of edible and non-edible commodities; and to take stern action against the elements involved in adulteration, hoarding and hoarding.

He also directed the local administration to conduct raids on shops on regular basis to ensure the quality and standards of the commodities and to make the shopkeepers bound to display a price list in their shops.

He stressed the need to reach and curb the main source where from the sub standard commodities and spurious commodities originate with the help of shopkeepers.

Due to the negligence of local administration there is abundance of spurious and sub standard commodities in the market and the poor people are forced to buy all this; lamented the chief minister and directed the commissioners to submit fortnightly report of their activities regarding price and quality checking etc to CM secretariat.

He warned the commissioners to beef up their activities and improve their performance to make a positive difference within one month period adding that after one month period the concerned commissioner would be taken to task in case if there was any public complaint.

Besides Provincial Ministers Sirajul Haq, Sikandar Sherpao and Sheram Tarakai, Chief secretary, Arbab Mohammad Shehzad, secretaries of various departments, commissioners, deputy commissioners and assistant commissioners attended the meeting.

The chair directed the concerned quarters to evolve an effective strategy to curb the menace of illegal smuggling of livestock and other items to Afghanistan and to implement the same as soon as possible.

The meeting decided to establish laboratories at divisional level for the testing of drugs and edible items as the only laboratory in Peshawar was insufficient to cater the need of the whole province.

The chief minister issued instructions to the authorities of revenue department to ensure the presence of Patwaris in their respective circles and the regular visits of Tehsildars to the circles in his brief address the chief secretary assured the chair of all types of supports from the commissioners and deputy commissioners to implement the change agenda of the provincial government.

Meanwhile the chief minister chaired another meeting of the working group of science & technology and information technology department in which the chair was appraised of the progress made so far to introduce E-governance system in various departments.

The meeting was told that at the moment a total of thirteen fields in which e-governance could be introduced which include online admissions, e- procurement, e-recruiting, subsidy management land record, public complaints, access to information and others.

The chief minister directed the concerned quarters to take measures to do the procurement in health department and distribution of zakat through e- governance system. It was principally decided in the meeting to reconstitute the IT Board in order to expedite work on the e- governance system.

Besides provincial minister for ST& IT, Shehram Tarakai, additional chief secretary finance, Sahibzada Saeed, Secretary planning and development, Dr. Asad Ali, Principal Secretary to Chief minister Ashfaq Ahmad, Secretary ST&IT and others attended the meeting.
