Fifth dengue patient dies in city

Karachi: Another dengue viral fever patient died in a private hospital during treatment and 12 more cases were reported in Karachi, said Dengue Surveillance Cell here on Tuesday.

Dr M Shakeel Aamir Mullick, Focal Person for Dengue Surveillance Cell Sindh said 22yearsold Muhammad Noman, resident of New Karachi Town, admitted in a private hospital of New Karachi on 15 July 2013, died during treatment.

He said three dengue patients died in month of July so far, while total five dengue patients expired in Karachi including two women and three men since January 2013.

Mullick further said 491 dengue fever cases were reported in Sindh province this year, out of them 478 were reported in Karachi, while 13 in rest of province.

He said that 20 dengue patients were still admitted to different hospitals of the Sindh and 12 new cases have been reported in the city on July 23, while one case detected in Kambar.

However, eight patients were discharged from hospitals after treatment on Tuesday.
