IGP wants ‘women desks’ in police stations

Karachi: Inspector General of Police Sindh Shahid Nadeem Baloch has instructed to set up ‘women police desks’ in all police stations of the province and in this regard in the first phase 50 model police stations would be chosen.

This was decided in a meeting with a three-member German delegation comprising Portfolio Manager of GIX in Pakistan Ms Madeliene, senior police officer Germany Christopher and principle adversise GRP Project Dr Khola.

The meeting decided to upgrade the women police stations and launch a comprehensive program for women police officers to build their capacity and professionalism so that they could solve the women-related crimes.

The IGP ordered that women police desks should be opened in all police stations when women police officers not below the rank of ASI deputed to deal with the cases related to women. It was decided to set up 50 model police stations in this regard. The GIZ assured its cooperation in setting up of the police stations and provision of transport facilities to them.

It was also decided to set up police forensic laboratories in Sukkur and Mirpurkhas.
