Importance of integrity in research stressed

KARACHI: Speakers at a five-day workshop on ‘Research Methodology’ emphasized on the need of quality and integrity in research to make it authentic and said that all revolutions in medical science were the results of true and credible researches.

The workshop was held from 4 to 8 November, 2013, organized by Hamdard University and sponsored by Higher Education Commission (HEC) at Faculty of Eastern Medicine, Hamdard University, Madinat al Hikmah, here.

Speaking on the occasion of inaugural session of workshop, Ateequr Rahman Khuhro, Director, Learning Innovation Division, Higher Education Commission Pakistan said that the research work on Tibb-i- Unani and clinical experiments on its medicines that were being conducted in Faculty of Eastern Medicine, Hamdard University and in its clinical teaching hospital, Shifaul Mulk Memorial Hospital were satisfactory and fruitful, other Tibbi institutions ought to emulate them.

Paying tribute to Hakim Said’s contribution towards promotion of education, health and science he said that his work and services for the progress and development of health, education and Eastern Medicine in the country were exemplary. The present administrative organization of Hamdard University, under the leadership of its Chancellor, Mrs. Sadia Rashid and Vice Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Hakim Abdul Hannan, was trying its level best to materialize the vision of Shaheed Hakim Mohammed Said.

Addressing to the concluding session of workshop, Prof. Dr. Hakim Abdul Hannan said that speaking truth about the research was the real essence of ‘research’ and standards of research should have to be followed in pursuit of truth in researches to make them authentic and acceptable.

He asked the participants of the workshop that if any deficiency of research process had come to their knowledge during workshop that should be removed in next workshop and continuous holding of these workshops be made compulsory and essential part of the syllabus and training of Eastern Medicine.

Prof. Dr. Hakim Abdul Hannan also gave away appreciation certificates to coordinator and resource person, Dr. Hakim Halima Nazar and other resource persons, Dr. Mubin, Dr. Sanowar, Dr. Usman Ghani Khan and Dr. Asif Ashraf on behalf of Higher Education Commission.

Prof. Dr. Qamarul Haque while offering vote of thanks informed that keeping in view the importance of research process, holding of such workshops would be continued in future.
