Jalbani says his son killed for not indulging in corruption

Karachi: Senior journalist and SubEditor Dawn Karachi Abbas Jalbani on Tuesday said his son Rafique Jalbani had been killed over not becoming the part of corruption in Nur Goth project as project manager.

He expressed these views while addressing a press conference at Karachi Press Club. Abbas said Rafique was associated with Midland Doctors Association MDA UK and Pakistan Medical Association PMA as project manager of Nur Goth. He said the 100 houses Nur Goth with a school, community center, vocational training center, a dispensary and play area for children was built by MDAUK and PMA for flood affected IDPs of Sindh.

He said his son was receiving threats from certain elements over not becoming the part of their corruption but on his refusal, he was killed in inside his home on July 26, 2013 in Makkli, district Thatta.

He said PMA is a respected institution but alleged that some people of PMA were involved in murder of his son over not becoming the part corruption. He said he was not satisfied with the investigation of police who was just completing the formality. He also condemned some baseless news published in some section of press about involvment of of Rafiqui’s wife in murder of her husband.

He demanded of the highups to conduct judicial inquiry into the highprofile case and shift its investigation to Karachi from Thatta.
