JI sees foreign hand in PMLN, MQM compromise

Lahore: Secretary General, Jamaat e Islami, Liaqat Baloch, has said that the international establishment had maneuvered a compromise between the PMLN, the PPP and the MQM to serve its agenda while the masses would suffer due their lust for power.

Speaking at an Iftar dinner, he said that the situation in Karachi was serious as extortion, target killings and abductions were on the rise. He said with the change of government and the exclusion of the MQM from the Sindh government, the people were expecting that the law would come into force against the elements involved in plundering the Karachi wealth, transferring it to Britain, besides money laundering. However, he said, it seemed that due to the compromise between the PMLN the PPP and the MQM, these expectations would die out.

Baloch said that politics based on vested interests had already done incalculable harm to the country’s economy and national solidarity, and added that the U turn by the present rulers would prove most dangerous in the future. He counseled the PMLN and the PPP leadership to see reason and abandon their past policies in the larger national interest.

The JI central leader condemned the drone attacks as violation of the country’s independence and sovereignty. He said, the previous governments headed by Pervez Musharraf and Zardari had been silent on drone attacks as their tacit approval was involved. However, he wondered why the new government was continuing the previous policy. He said, the drone attacks resulted in the death of innocent people but reaction to the drone attacks resulted in bloodshed all over the country.

Commenting on the presidential elections, Liaqat Baloch said that the ruling party had the majority in the parliament but it had made the elections controversial. He said the JI would support the PTI candidate, and clarified that the PTI was contesting the presidential election in protest.
