JMPC employee attempts to commit suicide

KARACHI: An employee of Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Center (JPMC) attempted to commit suicide in front of Executive Director Office here on Monday against forceful expulsion of his family from the government quarter by the hospital administration.

The JPMC administration four days back forcibly evacuated Muhammad Zulfiqar and his family from the house who is serving in General Surgery Ward-2 of the hospital as a dresser since last 20 years but the present administration ousted them in order to allot this quarter to another employee.

After being dejected over this attitude of JPMC administration, Zulfiqar attempted to commit suicide by taking pesticide and giving cuts on his body with blades in front of Director Office. He was rushed to JPMC by co-workers where he was being treated.

Zulfiqar told media at the hospital that he had supported the protest demonstration of doctors few months back against administration, after which it turned against him and forcibly expelled him and his family from official quarters.

He said that he is serving in JPMC with honestly and is residing at government quarter as per rules and regulation. He alleged that over dozens of people were living in these official residents illegally but administration was reluctant to oust them.

He demanded of the provincial health minister to provide him justice and take notice of the administration behavior with employees.
