Kachhi, Baloch communities agree to resolve bloody dispute

KARACHI: Kachhi and Baloch communities have agreed to resolve their bloody dispute at a reconciliation meeting presided over by Commissioner Karachi Shoaib Ahmed Siddiqui on the directives of Sindh government.

The meeting was attended among others by delegations of Kachhi and Baloch communities, Karachi Chambers of Commerce and Industry representatives, Additional IG Karachi Range and administration officials. The disputing parties were fully allowed to present their cases at the meeting that continued for five hours.

The meeting was told that due to dispute between the two sides, loss of human lives and property has occurred while due to panic, students face difficulties in going schools and people of both sides could not visit bazaars, markets and other areas openly. The social, sports and business activities have badly been affected, it was told in the meeting.

Commissioner Karachi said that a committee comprising two members each from Baloch and Kachhi communities had been formed to ensure durable peace in Lyari. It was decided that a full-fledged meeting of both sides like today would be held every Monday while committee meeting would be held under the chair of Deputy Commissioner South Mustafa Jamal Qazi on daily basis in which DIG South Police Dr Amir Shaikh would also participate.

These meeting will review situation and make efforts to resolve the issue gradually and permanently.
