Lawlessness, threats mar election activities

QUETTA: Threats and lawlessness have marred election activities in Balochistan. Election offices of parties close earlier which remained open till late at night. Most of these offices remain vacant owing to threats, lawlessness and bomb explosions. No interest is seen which is main stay o f elections and candidates are worried with the situation.

Some senior and old politicians have started their political game and election campaign in a scientific manner. They have started sending messages through their women.

In Pashtoon areas electioneering was underway with full pace in peaceful manner and people and supporters were running campaign very successfully.

In internal areas particularly in Baloch areas attacks are being made on the candidates and their offices. This has resulted in limiting their election activities. Situation in some suburban areas is also very bad.

Provincial governments after strict directives from Election Commission were considering deployment of Army from the first week of May. At a meeting held with Caretaker prime Minister in Islamabad some days ago on the request of Balochistan Caretaker Chief Minister Nawab Ghaus Bakhsh Barozai for targeted operation against banned organizations, federal government was considering it.
