Lyariites meet JI leader, seek help for peace

KARACHI: A delegation of the residents of Lyari area on Thursday met Jamaat-e-Islami JI Karachi chief Muhammad Hussain Mehanti at Idara-e-Noor Haq.

The delegation apprised JI Karachi chief of the deteriorated law and order situation of the area, rising incidents of extortion and terrorism. The area people also appealed to JI Karachi chief to raise their voice at every platform and compel the government and law enforcing agencies to take action over law and order situation problem in Lyari Town.

On the occasion, Mehanti assured the residents of Lyari that the JI leadership would not let them alone in this crucial period of time and raise their voice in order to restore lasting peace in the area.

He further said that JI leadership would not keep silence over the criminal negligence of the government and authorities concerned of LEAs in connection with Lyari situation.

Mehanti demanded of the government to take decisive action against extortionists and terrorists regardless of any political reconciliation.

He said that the law and order situation in Lyari had become deteriorated at dangerous extend as the entire area had become the battle field, adding that effective measures by the government and LEAs officials over the Lyari situation are needed.
Mehanti regretted that the newly elected government had not yet taken any step in this regard as the area people are living in great fear as the extortionists and terrorist elements are roaming freely in the area without any fear of arrest.

Billions of rupees are being spent on Rangers, police and other LEAs , but they have failed to ensure safety of life and property of the people, Mehanti concluded.
