Mamnoon gets 64 votes from Sindh assembly as PPPP boycotts

Karachi: Pakistan People’s Party Parliamentarian PPPP here Tuesday boycotted the polling of presidential elections at the premises of Sindh Assembly; however, Pakistan Muslim LeagueNawaz PMLN candidate Mamnoon Hussain got sixtyfour votes from the Sindh assembly while his rival Justice retd Wajihuddin Ahmad of Pakistan TehreekiInsaf could get only 5 votes, as per unofficial result.

The polling started at 10.00am amidst tight security. However, the PPPP MPAs did not cast their vote as their party had already decided to set the precedent of making Sindh the only province where a ruling party would boycott the presidential election.

However, Mamnoon Hussain was comfortably elected as the 12th President of Pakistan to replace incumbent Asif Ali Zardari next month. Born in Agra India, Mamnoon Hussain belonged to business community of Karachi. His election is seen a good amen for Karachi, as the Muttahida Quami Movement MQM, the second biggest party of Sindh province and the largest political party of Karachi also supported him, unconditionally.
