PAKISTAN POSTPONES ELECTION IN ONE CONSTITUENCY AFTER SUICIDE ATTACK KILLS 20

The Election Commission of Pakistan on Wednesday postponed the general election in PK-78 constituency in response to a suicide attack targeting the election rally of Awami National Party (ANP) in Peshawer’s central Yakatoot area last night, reported Associated Press of Pakistan (APP).

According to reports, “Senior ANP leader Barrister Haroon Bilour and 19 others lost their lives while 66 were wounded in that blast.”

According to ECP, the election in PK-78 was postponed due to an attack on ANP election rally and would be held after the general election 2018. The election in the constituency would be held along with by-elections.

Meanwhile, condemning the attack, Chief Election Commissioner Sardar Mohammad Raza termed it a conspiracy against transparent election and ordered all provincial governments to ensure the fool-proof security to all candidates.-
