PIA urged to open flights on Zahidan route

Karachi: The Union of Small and Medium Enterprises (UNISAME) has urged Mohammad Junaid Younis managing director (MD) Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) to reconsider and restart the flights from Quetta to Zahidan to Quetta to enable the businessmen to continue their commercial activities without hindrance.

The union has invited the attention of the MD PIA that discontinuation of twice a week flights (ATR) from Quetta to Zahidan and return has caused upset for small to medium sized entrepreneurs (SMEs) who were using this facility to promote their business and are terribly disturbed by discontinuation of this service.

The SMEs will not be able to continue their business in Zahidan due to this disconnection and their export business of various items will be discontinued resulting in losses of future business and recoveries of bills of goods already dispatched to Zahidan.

President UNISAME Zulfikar Thaver has requested the MD PIA to kindly reconsider and renew this Quetta – Zahidan service in the best interest of Pakistan’s exports to the neighbouring countries and promotion of bilateral trade.

Abdul Rahim Janoo patron in chief the Rice Exporters Association of Pakistan (REAP) has also pointed out that the discontinuation of Quetta-

Zahidan- Quetta turbo flights is causing loss of business and the rice exporters are in turmoil due to discontinuation of this essential service which was promoting bilateral trade between Pakistan and the neighbouring countries. He also requested the MD PIA to consider the recommencement in the best interest of the SMEs.
