President Ghani hails OIC for holding Ulema Conference on Afghanistan Peace

Afghan President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani commended the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) for holding the International Ulema Conference on Afghanistan Peace and Security in Saudi Arabia’s cities of Jeddah and Makkah on July 10-11 respectively.

In a written message to OIC Secretary General Dr. Yousef Al-Othaimeen, delivered by the Afghan permanent representative to the Organization, President Ghani also applauded the excellent Afghanistan-OIC bilateral relations and mutual cooperation.

In the same vein, Afghan Foreign Minister Salahuddin Rabbani praised, in a phone call with the secretary general, the OIC and its leadership for their untiring efforts to restore peace and stability in Afghanistan. He termed the Makkah Declaration issued by the Conference as a balanced one, manifesting the positions of Muslim scholars and the entire Islamic Ummah against terrorism and extremism.

Rabbani also acclaimed the engagement of Saudi Arabia and the personal attachment of Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman for peace and security in Afghanistan and wellbeing of its people.
