Ramazan is month of divine blessings: Munawar

KARACHI: Ameer, Jamaat-e-Islami, Pakistan, Syed Munawar Hasan, has said that the holy month of Ramazan is starting at a time when the Muslim Ummah is rendering memorable sacrifices to free itself from the oppressive yoke of the colonial powers while the so-called champions of democracy and human rights had closed their eyes.

In a message on the occasion of commencing of Ramazan issued from Lahore, he said that Ramazan is the month of divine blessings for the Muslim Ummah during which the faithful are required to seek divine blessings. But unfortunately, in Kashmir, Palestine, Burma, Iraq and Afghanistan, the Muslims have been fighting for freedom and sovereignty. The US and its allies were busy in conspiracies against the elected governments of Turkey and Egypt.

He said: “Millions of people in Egypt were on roads against the military coup against the elected government but the world institutions, the media and so-called champions of democracy were silent. The Egyptian people were being forced to lift the bodies of their countrymen being killed by their own army.”

Hasan further said that the month of Ramazan is the month to show sympathies to the others. Therefore, every believer should share his blessings with the other less fortunate brethren in the true Islamic spirit. However, he said that unfortunately, the people at the helm of the affairs were least concerned about the miseries of the masses.
