SHC restrains SWWB from awarding tender

Karachi: The Sindh High Court SHC on Monday restrained Sindh Workers Welfare Board Education from awarding tender for supply and disbursement of educational facilities’ articles to workers’ children till further orders.

A division bench headed by Justice Faisal Arab also issued notices to the respondents and the advocate general and put off the hearing to April 25.

The petitioner, Anwar Faiz, impleaded province of Sindh through chief secretary, secretary labour, and secretary and deputy secretary admin of Sindh Workers Welfare Board Education as respondents.

The petitioner submitted that secretary Sindh Workers Welfare Board Education invited tenders through publication in newspapers for the supply and disbursement of educational facilities’ articles to workers’ children in Sindh province.

He said that deputy secretary admin of Sindh Workers Welfare Board Education refused to give him tender documents despite they were seeking open tenders from all interested persons, and did not let him participate in e bidding.

He argued that he had fulfilled all the formalities and applied within time by submitting the application for issuance of tender documents. Despite the fact, he added, the authorities concerned acted in violation of rules and regulations and deprived him from participating in the bids.

He prayed to court to declare that petitioner is entitled for participation in the bids and restrain the respondents from opening the bid till the decision on this matter.
