Six including doctor murdered in Karachi

KARACHI: Six people including a senior doctor and his police guard lost lives in different incidents of target killings in Karachi on Tuesday.

Dr Asad son of Usman, incharge of medical ward no. 3 in Abbasi Shaheed Hospital was gunned down by armed bike riders while his police guard Irfan seriously injured near Annu Bhai Park in Nazimabad no. 7 within the remit of Nazimabad Police station. They body and injured were shifted to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital, where the injured guard, Irfan, succumbed to his injuries.

Police said unidentified culprits opened indiscriminate firing on a car with registration number ADG927 at Annu Bhai Park and killed Dr Asad Usman. The deceased was resident of Nazimabad Block–I.

Separately, Manzoor Taqi, 45, son of Taqi Ahmed was gunned down by unidentified armed bike riders in Sharafi Goth within limits of Sharafi Goth Police Station. The body was shifted to JPMC for postmortem.

Police said the deceased was resident of Gulistan-e-Johar. Police have started investigation in the case.

Similarly, Akram, 40, son of Umerdin and an unidentified young man were gunned down by armed men near Safari Park flyover on University Road within remit of Gulistan-e-Johar Police Station. The bodies were shifted to JPMC for medicolegal formalities. The identity of the young man could not be ascertained till filing this report.

Meanwhile, one Manzoor Zaki, son of Zaki Ahmed Qureshi was gunned down by unidentified culprits near Malir River at Murtaza Chowrangi in limits of Landhi police station. The body was shifted to JPMC for postmortem. Police said unidentified culprits had shot a bullet in his head. Police started further probe.
