Updated news: Cop among three killed, two injured in Karachi violence

KARACHI: Three people, including a cop, were killed and two others injured in different acts of violence in the city on Monday.

A young man bearing torture marks was found dead near a drain in Mauripur within the limits of Mauripur police station. The body was shifted to Civil Hospital Karachi for medicolegal formalities. The identity of the victim could not be ascertained yet. Police said the body was three-day old.

A cop, Gul Muhammad, 35, son of Hamza, was gunned down by unidentified bike riders in Sultanabad within the remit of Manghopir police station. The body was shifted to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for medicolegal formalities.

Police said the victim was stationed in the security zone and was on his way home on a bike when unidentified culprits opened fire, killing him on the spot. Police said the victim was the resident of Mushke Para near Sultanabad.

Separately, Kamran, 30, was gunned down in his car by unidentified armed men near Noorani School in North Nazimabad Block-I within the limits of Shahrah-e-Noor Jahan police station. The body was shifted to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for medicolegal formalities.

Police said the man was killed in sectarian violence.

Separately, Muhammad Fahim, 22, son of Irshad, was injured in firing by unidentified armed men in Landhi No. 4 within the remit of Landhi police station. The injured was shifted to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre for treatment.

Similarly, a man, Ziauddin, son of Salahuddin, was injured in firing by unknown bike riders near Shaheen Hotel in Shershah in the premises of Shershah police station. The injured was shifted to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for treatment.
