00 bullet-proof jackets provided to police officers in West Zone

KARACHI: Acting IG Sindh Ghulam Hayder Jamali has said that provision of modern ammunition, bullet-proof jackets, helmets and armoured vans and inaugural of training courses of anti-terrorism and modern policing would enhance the professional abilities of police officers.

He said this while talking to journalists during a visit to different areas in the city on Monday night. Additional IG Karachi Ghulam Qadir Thebo and other senior officers were also accompanying him.

Jamali directed to provide fool-proof security, while reviewing security measures around mosques, imam bargahs and bazaars in Saddar, Denso Hall, Lyari, Sher Shah and Hyderi Market etc.

He said that all the steps were being taken for the security of people and its proof was the large number of martyrdoms of police officers.

During the visit to Sher Shah and adjacent areas, DIG west in Peerabad police station told while briefing security measures that 200 bullet proof jackets had been provided to the police officers of the crime affected areas of West Zone.

Meanwhile, Jamali visited police camp established in Hyderi Market, North Nazimabad, and reviewed security steps in the market.

The IG Sindh also reviewed the security of different areas in Lyari and met the heirs of the recently martyred Sub-Inspector Muhammad Rafiq at his house and condoled with the bereaved family.
