KARACHI: Two people were killed and six others injured in separate incidents of violence in the city on Tuesday. Syed Zia Hussain, 35, son of Syed Iftikhar Hussain, was shot dead for offering resistance to a robbery incident near Sindhi Hotel.
According to details, the deceased had a business of poultry farm and at the time of incident, he was returning home after recovery of Rs 170,000 cash when four unidentified armed motorcyclists intercepted his car with an intention of looting.
However, Hussain offered resistance and on refusal, the miscreants opened fire at him as result, he died on the spot. The body was shifted to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital (ASH) for medico-legal formalities.
In another incident, Adnan, 45, son of Sultan, was injured when unknown armed men opened fire at him in Nazimabad area. He was brought to ASH for treatment. The motive behind attack was offering resistance to robbery.
The injured was brought to ASH for treatment.
Yet in another incident, Shams Alam, 30, son of Mohammad Hussain, was shot at and injured by unknown armed men in Rahim Shah Colony in Orangi Town area. He was taken to ASH for treatment.
Separately, Ayub, 25, son of Jaffar, was injured when some miscreants opened fire at him in Ibrahim Hyderi, Korangi. He was brought to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC) for treatment. The motive behind attack could not be ascertained.
Meanwhile, an unknown man, aged 21, was seriously injured in a firing incident by unknown armed men near 2K bus stop Shahrah Noor-e-Jahan. He was rushed to ASH for treatment.
In a separate incident, SSP Office sources said, police had an encounter in Kalri, Lyari in which Lyari gang war ringleader Ali Jhatpat was killed and his accomplices Rahim and Rama was arrested in injured condition while 2 TT pistols and rounds were recovered from their possession.
“The accused were involved in several cases of target killings, robberies and extortion,” SSP City Shiraz Nazir said.
