10 bonded labours recovered

Larkana: On the directions of the District & Sessions Judge, Shikarpur, Madeji police has recovered ten bonded labourers from the captivity of one influential landlord from Ketty Zamir Shah in riverine area, near Madeji (Shikarpur District).

They include Mangan, Mohan, Bangro, Mollu, Kellu, Cheetal and 5-years baby Kanki. SHO Madeji police station Akhtar Abro told Media that ten people of Menghwar community were recovered from landlord Zamir Shah’s lands.

He said that one woman Sharmeti wife of Bhallu had filed an application in the sessions court on 08th January that Zamir Shah had brought these people one year ago from Mithi (Tharparkar) with the promise that he will pay for the labour and share from the produce of agricultural lands which they will cultivate. But then he refused to pay for the labour they were doing and also from the produce, she added. She further said in the application that Shah was also not allowing them to go out hence they were in captivity.

SHO said they conducted the raid and recovered ten people but the landlord managed to flee. On the other hand recovered poor persons Mangal & Kellu told reporters that they were forcibly made captive and were constantly guarded by armed men adding they were always given incomplete monthly ration by landlord Zamir Shah.
