LARKANA: To mark the 100 years of renowned scholar, writer, intellectual, and historian Mohammad Ibrahim Joyo, a grand function was held here at Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto Auditorium of Paeds Surgery Department of Chandka Hospital on Saturday evening in which noted Sindhi and Urdu languages scholars, writers, poets and literary figures took part including Mazhar Jamil, who presided over the function, MPA Mehtab Akbar Rashidi, who was the chief guest, Muslim Shamim, President, Anjuman Tarraqi Pasand Musanfeen, Mushtaque Phull of Sindhi Adabi Sangat, Zulkfikar Siyal, Madad Ali Sindhi, Malhar Sindhi, Qadir Jagirani and others who also spoke on the occasion and paid rich glowing tributes to the legend for meritorious serves he has rendered for Sindhi literature, history, research, culture & people of Sindh.
Mazhar Jamil said in his speech that Ibrahim Joyo is the champion of secular movement in Sindh and he has always propagated it so that Sindh may be a peaceful land. He said the life of the legendary writer is multipurpose and his life’s every angle is laudable.
MPA Mehtab Rashidi said that Ibrahim Joyo is the voice of one century and his struggle echo is heard far away. She said that every man in Sindh loves him very much. Mushtaque Phull said that Joyo is a nationalist scholar who has passed his entire life for research and development of Sindh. Phull said that during recent movement of making Sindhi language the national language of Pakistan, Ibrahim Joyo was always with them and supported them wholeheartedly. He said Joyo Sahab is living legend and history of Sindh who has always helped the young people.
Prof Salim Memon said that Mohammad Ibrahim Joyo was expelled from government job over writing for the cause of Sindh and its people but he never compromised on principles and continued his struggle to ameliorate the lives of poor and downtrodden. Madad Sindhi said that Joyo established many organizations here for which he will always be remembered. Muslim Shamim said that research work of Ibrahim Joyo in particular is very valuable among other things which must be followed by the young generation and added he will always be remembered for his services.
