185 persons died, more than 2000 houses damaged in earthquake

Peshawar: Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has confirmed that 185 persons were died in the sever earthquake and more than 1500 were injured whereas 2097 houses and other properties were damage in various districts of the province.

Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa apprehended that the number of casualties may be increased with the clearance of blocked roads to the affected areas.

Briefing the media advisor to CM Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Mushtaq Ahmad Ghani said that most of personal losses are from Malakand Division whereas property damages also occurred in Swat, Shangla, Bunir, Dir and Malakand.

He told that according to PDMA, 28 deaths are from Swat, 29 from Chitral, 38 from Shangla, 12 from Kohistan, 37 from Upper and Lower Dir, 15 from Torghar, 3 from Peshawar, 3 from Charsadda, 8 from Bunir, 2 from Nowshera, 1 from Hangu, 1 from Mansehra, 2 from Malakand, 2 from Sawabi and 3 dead from Mardan are reported.

Similarly he said that 2000 tents, 2000 Blankets, 1000 food packets and 2000 mats are being distributed among affected people in various districts of the province.

Minister said that government has also announced compensation for the hires of the deceased people and injured persons. According to the Policy of Provincial Government 3 lakh rupees would be paid to the hires of each deceased and Rs one lakh would be given to every injured person.

He said that Director General of PDMA is visiting the affected districts of the province while PDMA Punjab, SDMA Kashmir and NDMA are also being busy in relief work at affected districts.

He informed the affected districts has total fund of 544 million which can be spent for relief and rehabilitation of the affected areas while PDMA has also Rs 1.5 billion which would be spent in the affected areas after approval of Chief Minister.

Telling details of the compensation amount for the re-construction of damages houses, he said that Rs 1 one lakh would be given to completely damaged houses carrying two rooms are more while Rs 80 thousands would be paid for re-construction of one house carrying one room. Similarly 50 thousands would be given for reconstruction of one room and for boundary wall construction Rs 30 thousands would be given.
