3028 indoor patients died in CMCH during 2014

LARKANA: Out of 68,957 indoor patients, 3,028 died in the Chandka Medical College Hospital (CMCH) Larkana during 2014 and the death percentage stood at 4.38%, PPI learnt on Monday.

During this period, 34,005 operations were carried out in the hospital and 6,78,580 people came to get treatment at Out Patients Department (OPD). Bed occupancy remained 245,211 during these 12 months and 6031 normal deliveries took place.

43,431 X-Rays and as many as 69,512 ultrasounds were also taken by the ailing patients which are must for exact determination of the disease and proper diagnostic purposes. About 480,329 lab investigations were conducted during this period and kidney stones of 809 patients were removed through lithotripsy machine, while 10,865 kidney failure patients got dialysis and ECG of 14,878 heart patients were also conducted.

The issue of shifting dialysis section from Teaching Block to City Block is still pending, causing hardships to the affected patients. The renovated place is lying unutilized. Sindh health department needs to order immediate transfer of these life saving dialysis machines to the new renovated place which will greatly reduce mortality rate and will certainly facilitate the affected patients.
