4,325 comandos will ensure security of polio workers during polio drive

KARACHI: Inspector General of Police (IGP) Sindh Ghulam Haider Jamali on Tuesday directed officials concerned to divide East, West and South Zones in Sectors and Sub-Sectors for ensuring foolproof security for the polio eradication teams during the upcoming nine-day vaccination drive in the metropolis from December 9 to 17 December 2015.

He issued these directives while reviewing the security measures for upcoming polio eradication campaign at his office. IGP directed that additional force should be deployed in the sensitive UC’s for the campaign and proper briefing should be delivered to them for security measures.

According to police report, at least 4325 police commandos, and constables will be deployed for security of polio workers from SSU, SRP, CTD, Crime Branch, Anti Encroachment Cell, Police Training School Razzaqabad, Police Training College Saeedabad, RTC Hyderabad, RTC Jam Nawaz, and PTC Shahdadpur along with local police.

IGP also directed officials to ensure snap checking and patrolling within the sensitive areas of the city. He insisted officials that the targeted operation should be made more efficient against criminals and wanted suspects.
