50th Defence Day celebrated with traditional zeal

KARACHI: The 50th Defence Day of Pakistan was celebrated in Karachi as well other cities of Pakistan with traditional zeal and fervour on Sunday.

In Karachi the main ceremonies were held at Quid’s mausoleum, PNS Karsaz and Rangers Headquarters.

A change of guard ceremony was held at the mausoleum of Quaid-e-Azam Mohammad Ali Jinnah. Pakistan Air force (PAF) Academy Risalpur cadets took over the guard duties. 75 cadets of PAF Risalpur presented guard of honour. They presented national anthem while hoisting the national flag at the start of guard changing ceremony.

Air Vice Marshal Asim Zaheer was the chief guest of ceremony. He laid a wreath on tomb and offered Fateha and wrote his views on the book of guests. He said that PAF has turned the dream of Quaid into reality.

At Headquarters of Pakistan Rangers Sindh in Jinnah Courts, the 50th defence day of Pakistan was celebrated with zeal and fervour. DG Rangers Major General Bilal Akbar was the chief guest.

DG Rangers laid a floral wreath at the Yadgar e Shuhada and offered Fateha. Deputy DG Rangers, Sector Commanders and large number of officers and personnel were present.

Vice Chief of Naval Staff, Hasham Bin Siddique was chief guest in PNZ Karsaz in a ceremony of Defence day.

He said while addressing to the ceremony that they are ready to lay any sacrifice for country’s security. He added that Pakistan Navy is always ready to play its due role in defence of the country.

A minute of silence was observed in the ceremony while giving tribute to the martyrs of the 19955 War.

However, pillion riding was banned in the city, but the citizens of Karachi celebrated the defence day with traditional enthusiasm.
