683 RO plants being installed in Thar

KARACHI: Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, Patron-In-Chief, Pakistan People’s Party has said that water remains the priority since Water is life and pledged that his Party is taking step to use every drop of water consciously and wisely to accomplish our mission to provide safe drinking water as well as to cater to the needs of agriculture and industrial sectors.

“As the world is observing International Water Day today, we reiterate our commitment to ensuring a well-irrigated and greener Sindh as well as whole Pakistan,” he said in a message on Water Day

Bilawal pointed out that people’s government in Sindh had taken revolutionary initiatives for renewal of irrigation resources in the province. These include Refurbishment of 3420 miles long canals and banks, construction and repair of 3890 water courses, installation of 1762 tubewells, introduction of sprinkle irrigation system for 2590 kanals and Drip irrigation system over 1025 kanals of agriculture land, installation of rain guns over 2296 acres and renovation and repair of Sukkur Barrage.

He also mentioned about installation of 500 water treatment plants in addition to 20 water treatment plants in Keamari and Lyari, world’s biggest water filtration plant at Shaheed Benazirabad with capacity to provide clean water to every city of Sindh.

Bilawal said special attention was being given for provision of safe drinking water in the drought-hit areas of the province as 683 Reverse Osmosis plants are being installed in Thar and other arid regions, which would operate through solar energy to provide 10,000 gallons of safe drinking water on a daily basis.
