77 shopkeepers fined for profiteering

KARACHI: In a crackdown against profiteers, 77 shopkeepers were charged with Rs77,700 fine for selling commodities above rates fixed by the city administration. Commissioner Karachi Shoaib Ahmed Siddiqui has said that the campaign launched against profiteers would continue till they ensured that the commodities were sold at rates fixed by the administration.

He further said that city administration had focused those areas where complaints against price hike were received. The action against profiteers were taken in Saddar, Garden, Jamshed Quarters, Gulshan-e-Iqbal, Gulzar-e-Hijri, Orangi, Liaquatabad, North Nazimabad and others.
