88 milk sellers jailed for violating price

KARACHI: Karachi Administration on Thursday took crackdown against the milk sellers for not selling milk at the official rate in the metropolis. The action was taken against 178 milk shops within a week during which 88 milk sellers were nabbed and jailed.

Commissioner Karachi Asif Haider Shah said that the milk rate had been fixed by the representatives of dairy farmers and shopkeepers, and they would not allow milk sale at exorbitant rates. He said that the consumers could lodge their complaints at 1299.

During the action, 16 milk sellers were arrested from East District, eight from District West, six from Korangi District and two from in Malir District.
