A delegation of Afghan journalists Visit Pakhtunkhwa radio PeshawarOctober 6, 2015
Peshawar: Media persons are the people who through positive and objective reporting can bring both Pakistan and Afghanistan closer and help put an end to the widening gap between the two countries. This was expressed by Afghan journalists who visited Pakhtunkhwa Radio FM 92.2 Peshawar here on Tuesday October 6th 2015.
Led by representative of the Pakistan Federal Union of Journalist Mr. Ziaul Haq, the Afghan delegation spent couples of hours in Pakhtunkhwa radio Peshawar and discussed various issues pertaining to the media and Pak-Afghan relations.
Director Information Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Shoaib uddin and Station Director Pakhtunkhwa Radio Peshawar Ansar Khilji welcomed the guests.
Director Information Shoaib uddin briefed the visiting delegation about the role and responsibilities of the information department and highlighted the steps being taken by the provincial government to facilitate the media men and provide them an environment where they can carry out their journalistic duties freely and smoothly.
Station Director Pakhtunkhwa Radio Peshawar Ansar Khilji briefed the Afghan Journalists about the programs and their contents being aired from Pakhtunkhwa radio Peshawar. The Afghan Journalists were told that Pakhtunkhwa Radio Peshawar aired a weekly program for Persian speaking Afghan refugees settled in various parts of the province.
The visiting delegation appreciated this effort of the Pakhtunkhwa Radio and hoped that it will create an environment of mutual trust and co-existence.
Pakhtunkhwa radio Peshawar on this occasion arranged a live talk show for the Afghan journalists where they spoke their mind. During this one and a half hour talk show with Haroon Daudzai, the participants discussed the role of media in the context of Pak-Afghan relations, the impact of journalists exchange program and issues concerning Afghan refugees.
The Afghan Journalists remained focused on the empowerment of women and appreciated the space and environment being provided to female journalists of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The journalists agreed that relations between the two bordering states could be strengthened through trade, sports , culture and media exchange.
Meanwhile listeners of Pakhtunkhwa Radio Peshawar through live calls welcomed the Afghan journalists and exchanged views with the guests.
The delegation is on a week long tour of Pakistan and they are scheduled to visit other provinces and cities till 11th of the current month.
The delegation members include Roohul Amin Afridi, Waheeda Faizi, Pukhtana Arzabzai, Abdul Samad Siraj, Rukhsar Azeemi, Ilyas Saleh, Hakim Basharat, Sikandar Nizami, Fazlur Rehman Arman, Fazli Hadi Hamidi and Asadullah Daudzai.
