Accused remanded to police custody in kidnapping case

KARACHI: An Anti-Terrorism Court-III (ATC-III) on Monday remanded an accused, Haroon Rasheed, to police custody till 24 October 2014 in a kidnapping case.

Police produced the accused before ATC-III Judge under tight security. Investigation officer produced the accused and requested the court that police needed his physical custody for investigation about the crime in which he and his accomplices were accused. The court accepted the police request and remanded the accused to their custody for five days from 20 to 24 October.

According to prosecution, accused was involved in kidnapping of Mohammad Bilal and demanding ransom of Rs 100 million on 19 May 2014 in DHA II within the jurisdiction of Defense police station.

The police searched the accused and arrested him on 17 October.

The case FIR 249/2014 was registered under Section 365-A (kidnapping for extorting property) of the Pakistan Penal Code read with Section 7 of the Anti-Terrorism Act at the Defense police station.
