Administrator Shoaib Siddiqui chairs departmental heads’ meetingJuly 8, 2015
KARACHI: Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) Administrator Shoaib Ahmed Siddiqui immediately after taking charge of his post announced the policy for bringing immediate solution to the problems with regard to subjects including financial and human resources management, ongoing development projects, cleaning of drains and road patch working and carpeting, repairing and maintenance of streetlights, tree plantation, beautification, cleanliness and other issues in a meeting with KMC departmental heads in Civic Centre on Wednesday.
He urged the officers to work day and night for restoration of citizen’s trust on KMC. Metropolitan Commissioner Samiuddin Siddiqui was also present in the detailed meeting.
Director General Technical Services Niaz Ahmed Soomro promised citizens of Karachi to complete the carpeting and patchwork of 29 roads with streetlights and construction of Malir Halt Flyover before Eid-ul-Fitr as a gift for citizens.
Siddiqui said KMC could only establish comprehensive coordination with citizens by focusing various important sectors of civic life like financial and human resources management, early completion of ongoing uplift works, bringing acceleration in the work of Malir 15 and Jam Sadiq Bridge, cleaning of city drains before next monsoon, improving the fire brigade service, instant redressing of charged parking complaints, measures to ensure more greenery with tree plantation and cleanliness, bringing improvement in city hospitals, facilitating citizens by installation of pedestrian bridges, ensuring implementation of rules pertaining to installation of hoardings and billboards, upgrading abettors and performing other essential works.
“Same was his policy and the responsibility of KMC also to restore the trust of citizens on municipal bodies by performing all these tasks”, he added.
Expressing his trust on KMC officers he said they had showed their ability in past and again could do these works in a better way. The financial management was like the backbone of any organization therefore a solid financial system would ensure the timely payment of staff salaries and pensions.
Administrator Karachi said the fire brigade must be kept in right condition all the time as the public life and property valued more than everything else for us.
He said the under completion projects should be finished on time and the construction works of Malir 15 flyover and Jam Sadiq Bridge must start without delay or the contractor firm, consultant and the concerned engineer will have to face the music.
Siddiqui also directed that the repairing of the affected portion of Mehran Highway should also begin forthwith.
He instructed that the KMC vehicles deputed on road carpeting and other works should have the banners affixed on them showing the people that these vehicles and staff were on their duty of road carpeting and other works.
Siddiqui also instructed that the concerned charge parking officer must visit the site where over charging or other complaints were received and make it sure that no overcharging was made.
Administrator Karachi directed the transport and communication department to install more pedestrian bridges on busy and important locations in the city and to formulate a liberal policy in this connection with the coordination of private sector. He also directed the local taxes department to remove all those small billboards from footpaths immediately as these footpaths were for pedestrians.
Instructing the senior director health he said improvement should be made in hospital condition with the availability of all required medicines. He directed veterinary department director to make a comprehensive plan for bringing improvement in the condition of city slaughterhouse.
