Administrator suspends services of sub fire officer

KARACHI: Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) Administrator Shoaib Ahmed Siddiqui, after not getting prompt reply from fire brigade helpline 16, suspended the services of Sub Fire Officer Tausif and also directed to issue the show cause notice to the Chief Fire Officer Tehsin Siddiqui.

In a meeting to review the performance of fire brigade department he also instructed that the fire tenders during fire extinguishing operation would obtain fuel and water from the nearest petrol pump and water hydrant. It was also made mandatory for every fire brigade worker to wear his uniform while on their duty.

Siddiqui said the fire brigade was considered an important organization, therefore, it must be very efficient and strong.

He also directed CFO to hold Darbar in every fire station which should be attended by all the fire officers and firemen in their full uniform.

The commissioner said the problems of fire brigade would be solved, however this department should take timely action anywhere in the city and put off fire at earliest.

He said the shifting system should be managed in such a way that the first shift workers must stay before the change of duty and if required take immediate fire extinguishing action without waiting for the shift change.

Siddiqui also directed that the chief fire officer to himself reach at location and obtain water from the nearest hydrant. Administrator Karachi said the fire brigade must be very active and prepared for instant action.
