Afghanistan is vital for a prosperous Pakistan: Barjees Tahir

Islamabad: Federal Minister for Kashmir Affairs & Gilgit-Baltistan Chaudhry Mohammad Barjees Tahir has said that Afghanistan is vital for a prosperous Pakistan. Both the countries share immutable bonds of faith, language, culture, and shared history.

Pakistan places a central emphasis on building friendly and good-neighbourly relations with Afghanistan. He went on saying that Pakistan was committed to strengthening their long-standing political ties and forging a multi-faceted relationship marked by strong trade and economic partnership.

“Both, Pakistan and Afghanistan are each other’s major trading partners. The two countries are working on various projects to enhance regional and energy connectivity”. He was addressing to the ceremony of National Day of Afghanistan.

He was Chief Guest in 95th ceremony of Afghanistan. Renowned political figures including Senator Mushahid Hussain, PML(Q) President Ch Shujat Hussain, Legislator Aftab Ahmad Khan Sherpao and many others from all walks of life participated in the ceremony along with diplomats from various countries of the world.

Federal Minister emphasized on the need to enhance bilateral cooperation between the two countries in order to face the challenges of the modern world. He reiterated Pakistan’s assistance to rebuild Afghanistan and pointed out Pakistan’s economic aid of $500 million to Afghanistan under current regime and Pakistan’s commitment of 3000 fully funded scholarships to Afghanistan students.

Earlier, Janaan Moosazai, Afghanistan’s Ambassador to Pakistan, in his speech said that cooperation between two brotherly countries was vital for regional connectivity and promotion of trade with Central Asian countries. He exclusively mentioned CAASA-100 and Turkmenistan-Pakistan gas pipeline projects.
