AIGP seeks strict snap checking, intelligence to control crimes

KARACHI: Additional Inspector General of Police (AIGP) Karachi Ghulam Qadir Thebo on Saturday chaired a high level meeting at Central Police Office (CPO) Karachi and reviewed law and order situation in the city.

AIGP instructed all Zonal police officers to take effective measures and ensure systemic advanced intelligence collection with proactive policing in the investigation process for solving cases at police station level.

Thebo said that police officials and informers deployed for intelligence collection should be given special tasks. He said that they should take rapid action on receiving reports about intelligence collection.

He said that all units of police should devise a joint strategy for preventing street crime, kidnapping, target killing and extortion besides arresting criminals involved in such crimes in the city.

Thebo instructed police to ensure snap checking of pillion riders in more crime affected areas while taking special care of senior citizens, ladies, children and journalists in this regard. He said that steps should also be taken to ensure six-hour nap checking in every area at police station level.
