AIOU to launch programmes in foreign languages

Islamabad: The Allama Iqbal Open University (AIOU) will soon launch programmes in foreign languages such as Chinese, German and Arabic.

While speaking at the concluding session of a summer camp, AIOU Vice-Chancellor Prof Shahid Siddiqui said that an international department would be set up on the university’s main campus to start foreign language programmes.

He said that in collaboration with the Open University of China, a separate Chinese-Language Centre would also be set up to offer certificate-level courses.

He said that the AIOU has arranged online programmes in French with the cooperation of the French Online Department, which has benefited thousands of students.

Dr Siddiqui appreciated French-language Department head Farah Sheikh for her dedication in promoting the French language.
