AKU clinches Basketball title after thrilling climax

Karachi: Aga Khan University successfully defended AKU Inter Collegiate/University Girls Basketball Tournament title after beating Dow University of Health Sciences (DUHS) after a thrilling encounter by 15-14 score here at the Sports Centre Gymnasium.

DUHS led the first set by 7-6 score but the host bounced back in the second half and after a tough battle recorded a narrow 15-14 victory.

Amn Siddiqi scored five points while Sunniya Shaukat and Aqsa Khalid scored four points each. For DUHS, Meeshal Khan scored six points while Elaina Butt scored four points.

Special awards were presented to Ayesha Tariq of AKU declared as Most Valuable Player (MVP) of the Tournament while Elaina Butt of DUHS, Maha Bhagat of Nixor College, Tooba Javaid of BUMDC and Sunniya Shaukat of AKU were presented special consolation prizes for their excellent performance. Individual gifts were distributed to the team players and the tournament officials.
