Karachi: Al-Khidmat Women Wing (Trust) distributes ration among 1,000 Rohingya families living in Karachi slums.

Al-Khidmat Foundation president Mohammad Abdul Shakoor, Qazi Syed Sadaruddin, Rashid Qureshi and others distributed grocery items among 1,000 Rohingya families living in slum area of Arakanabad, Korangi.

Mohammad Abdul Shakoor speaking on the occasion said the tyranny being meted out to the Rohingya Muslims of Myanmar is unprecedented in human history. He said Alkhidmat Foundation is attempting to assist Rohingya families living in Karachi for decades in pathetic conditions. They are facing poverty, hunger, joblessness besides issues of education and healthcare. However, Al-Khidmat Women Wing is trying to assist these families from its meagre resources.

He said the commitment and passion of Al-Khidmat Women Wing (trust) activists is worth appreciation, who are trying to figure out the needs of these people and trying to cater their food, healthcare and educational needs.

He said Al-Khidmat is also working in disaster relief, healthcare, education, water supply and other fields but its priority is education. “We need to make our generations literate”.

Mohamad Abdul Shakoor said we will run a campaign of taking care of orphaned children in the holy month of Ramzan. The target of the project is to sponsor at least 10,000 children.

He appreciated the Al-Khidmat Women Wing activities in Arakanabad for the betterment of education. He said he hopes that all children of this slum in next 10 years will be fully literate.

He asked Al-Khidmat Women Wing (trust) to survey Arakanabad so that more welfare projects could be started there. He said we want to make Arakanabad a model area of the city so that people living there get rid of problems.
