Ali Akbar Kumaili laid to rest

KARACHI: Funeral prayer of Allama Ali Akbar Kumaili, son of prominent scholar Allama Abbas Kumaili, was offered at Shah-e-Khorasan Imambargah in Saddar area of the city on Sunday.

Allama Ali Akbar Kumaili was gunned down by targeted killers in Azizabad area on Saturday evening. A large number of people, religious scholars and Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) leaders attended the funeral prayers.

Majlis Wahdat-ul-Muslimeen (MWM) leader Allama Ameen Shaheedi condemned the killing of Allama Ali Akbar Kumaili and said that the country is heading towards a civil war like situation. He said that terrorists should be wiped out through a military operation.

Kumaili was laid to rest at Ali Bagh graveyard near Cheel Chowk in Lyari. A special police team has been formed to probe the killing. The probe committee, constituted by Additional Inspector General of Police (AIGP) Karachi Ghulam Qadir Thebo, comprises Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), Superintendent of Police (SP) Special Investigation Unit (SIU) and officers of Crime Investigation Department (CID). The team will submit its reports within 24 hours.
