Alleged extortionist remanded to jail custody

Karachi: An Anti-Terrorism Court-II (ATC-II) on Thursday remanded four accused, Rehmatullah, Mohammad Wasi, Mohammad Zeeshan and Mohammad Umair to jail custody till 15th September 2014 in money extortion case. Police produced the accused before ATC-II under tight security.

According to the prosecution, the accused were involved in extortion cases and hurling threats to kill citizens in case of non-payment in North Nazimabad, Block D.

The Investigation Officer submitted before the court that accused were no more required for investigation. The court remanded the accused to jail custody for four days with the direction to jail authorities to produce the accused on 16th September.

The case FIR No 160/2014) was registered under Section 384(Punishment for extortion), 385 (Putting person in fear of injury in order to commit extortion), 386 (Extortion by putting a person in fear of death or grievous hurt) and 34 (common intention) of the Pakistan Penal Code read with Section 7 of the Anti-Terrorism Act at North Nazimabad police station.
