Alleged owner of TMK distillery arrested

MATLI, Sindh: The alleged owner of a home-made wine facility that caused more than 100 deaths recently in Tando Mohammad Khan was arrested here on Thursday.

According to details, police arrested the accused from Mulla Katyar area of the Tando Mohammad Khan District. He was identified as Ali Nawaz Panhwar.

Sources said, the accused during initial statement to police said that he was a traditional wrestler. The wine den was being run by his brother, Hakim Panhwar who also died due to use of the poisonous liquor, along with other peoples, recently.

However, rumours were in the air that this arrest was eyewash to befool general public and to hush up the case, as the illegal distillery that caused more than 100 deaths besides permanent blindness to dozens other was reportedly the property of a local office-bearer of ruling party.

Sources said that some influential people in the provincial government of Sindh are trying to hush up this very serious matter.
