Alleged target killer remanded to police custodyMarch 30, 2015
KARACHI: An Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) on Tuesday remanded an alleged target killer Bilal Qureshi alias Chingari to police custody till 13 April 2015 in explosives material, illicit weapons possession, murder attempt and assaulting public servant chrages.
The investigation officer requested the court to allow the physical remand of the accused as the police wanted to map out his connections. The court accepted the police request and remanded the accused to police custody till 13 April.
According to the prosecution, the police arrested accused after an encounter on 30 March in new Karachi area. The accused was allegedly belonged to a banned outfit Sipah-e-Sahaba and was involved in many sectarian killings; however, he was remanded to police in explosives material, illicit weapons possession, murder attempt and assaulting public servant charges. IO stated that investigation was underway and he will be implicated in Shia killings as his involvement in that cases made certain.
ATC judge Anandram Sairani remanded the accused to police custody for 14-day and directed IO to submit a progress report on the next hearing.
