KARACHI: Muttahida Qaumi Movement’s founder and leader Altaf Hussain has expressed concern over the siege of Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) Chairman Dr Tahirul Qadri’s residence and Minhaj-ul-Quran Secretariat by Punjab police in Lahore.

In a statement on Thursday, Hussain said: “It appears that the government has not learnt any lesson from the Model Town tragic incident. Once again they have laid siege to Dr. Qadri’s residence and Minhaj-ul-Quran Secretariat by using the power of police and administration, which is causing worry.”

Hussain also condemned the raids on the houses of Pakistan Awami Tehreek’s leaders and workers and their arrest in several cities of Punjab.”He urged the government to show restraint and tolerance and try to solve the issues through dialogue and avoid using power. He added that use of power had made situation worse and the country could not afford it. Hussain demanded that the government should end the siege of Dr Qadri and Minhajul Quran Secretariat and stop raids and arrests of its workers.
