Altaf for reshaping Pakistan Disaster Management Authority

KARACHI: The founder leader of Muttahida Quami Movement (MQM), Altaf Hussain, on Saturday urged the federal and provincial authorities to reshape Pakistan Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) and equipped it with modern technology due to the danger of possible earthquakes, especially in northern areas.

Addressing volunteers and office-bearers of Disaster Management Committee of Khidmat-e-Khalq Foundation (KKF), the MQM chief appreciated his party’s efforts to maintain rescue, rehabilitation and disaster management.

He said that PDMA should enhance its provincial chapters with modern capabilities. as world-known geologists and seismographers had declared northern areas existing on high alert lines. He said that the continuous occurrence of earthquakes in the possible dangerous areas were the clear evidence.

He said that the northern areas and main cities of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa were forecasted the feasibly danger areas by seismography experts around the world. He said that the federal and provincial governments should prepare National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) and PDMA for any natural calamity. He also directed KKF volunteers and office-bearers to become expert in the field to save the country from any possible catastrophe.
