Aqeel clinches singles, doubles title in tennis tourney

Karachi: Favourite Aqeel Khan clinched men’s singles title after beating Heera Ashiq in the summit clash of 30th Federal Cup Ranking Tennis Championships 2015 at Syed Dilawar Abbas PTF Tennis Complex in Islamabad.

Aqeel won the first set easily by 6-2 score and went on to take the second set by 6-1 score to claim the title in style. Aqeel cashed Rs.45000 while Heera pocketed Rs.25000.

Aqeel also won the tournament’s doubles event crown with teammate Shahzad Khan. The duo recorded a straight-set 6-2, 6-4 triumph against the pair of Mohammad Abid and Usman Rafiq in the final.

Meanwhile, Waqar Nisar and Asad Niaz claimed Seniors 60 Plus doubles title after beating Pakistan Tennis Federation (PTF) President Salim Saifullah Khan and his teammate Mehboob Khan in straight sets by 6-1,6-1 score in the final.

A total number of 130 players participated from all over the county in seven different events. An amount of Rs.300,000 was distributed as cash award among the players.
