Asif bowls FATA to a big ten-wicket triumph

Karachi,: : Asif Afridi again grabbed a six-wicket haul in second inning for FATA Region to restrict Faisalabad Region to a paltry total of 84 in Pool A match on day three in Inter-Region Qualifying Tournament 2015-16 Round 2 here Thursday at UBL Sports Complex.

Trailing by 84 runs, Faisalabad Region scored only as much before losing all of their wickets in 43.1 overs. Ali Shan top scored with 24 runs. The team scored 185 in the first inning and conceded 269 runs from FATA.

Asif, who grabbed 6-63 in the first inning, returned more dangerously in the second capturing six wickets again but giving away only 26 runs. Haroon Sadaqat also bowled well for FATA returning with figures of 4-30.

Here at National Stadium, Ramiz Raja Jr (148 runs) and Babar Hussain Agha (140 runs) helped Karachi Blues to respond well against Abbottabad Region’s 403. Karachi Blues scored 391 in 122.2 overs at the end of the third day.

In a Pool B match here at NBP Stadium, Lahore Region Blues is in a commanding position after it has reduced Bahawalpur Region to 122-4 at the end of the third in second inning. Bahawalpur scored a modest 166 in the first inning while Lahore has scored 258 and 241. Bahawalpur needs another 212 runs to reach victory with six wickets in hand.

At Niaz Stadium in Hyderabad, Sialkot Region recorded a thrashing victory against Multan Region by an inning and 18 runs. In response, to Sialkot’s first inning score of 335 runs, Multan first scored 169 and after follow-on, it managed only 148. Waqas Ahmed returned with impressive match figures of 5-27 while Hassan returned with 3-58 figures.

In Inter-Department Qualifying Tournament Round 2, KRL bulldozed ZTBL by an inning and 84 runs at Iqbal Stadium in Faisalabad.

ZTBL scored a paltry total of 95 in first inning and after KRL put on board 300 in their first inning, ZTBL put another lackluster performance scoring 121 runs. Muhammad Abbas, who captured five wickets in first inning grabbed six more in the second. Meanwhile, Abdul Rehman Muzamil scored 131 and Imam-ul-Haq scored 102 for KRL.

At Multan Cricket Stadium in Multan, Muhammad Aamir has taken three wickets to help SSGC to take command of the match on the third day against SBP. SBP has managed to cross the first inning lead of 112 runs at the cost of four wickets. SBP scored 255 in the first while SSGC responded strongly with 367 with Mohammad Irfan scoring 132. SBP has scored 121-4 at the end of third day game.

Openers Nadeem Javed (96 not out) and Ans Mahmood (83 not out) have strengthened KPT’s position in the second inning against PIA at LCCA Ground in Lahore. PIA responded with 299 against KPT’s first inning total of 287. After a balanced game after first innings, the match now seems to have inclined towards KPT or a draw after KPT has scored 185 without a loss at the end of the third day.
