ATC extends remand in Zehra murder case

KARACHI: An Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) on Thursday extended the remand of an accused Abdul Kaleem to police custody till 1 April 2015 in Zehra Shahid murder case.

Police produced the accused Kaleem before the ATC judge under tight security. The investigation officer requested the court to allow the further physical remand of the accused as he was required for investigation. IO requested the court that police needed his physical remand to map out his connections and investigate him in Zehra murder case.

The court accepted the police request and extended the remanded of the accused to police custody till 1st April.

Earlier on 18 March rangers raided Clifton area of Karachi and arrested Kaleem who was allegedly the main culprit in Zehra murder case.

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf founding leader Zehra Shahid was gunned down soon after the general election 2013 outside her home in Defence Housing Authority on 18 March 2013.
