ATC issues NBW for arrest of IO in Pappu murder case

KARACHI: An Anti-Terrorism Court-IX (ATC-IX) on Saturday issued a Non Bailable Warrant (NBW) for the arrest of an investigating officer (IO) Inspector Abid Ali Ansari, over his absence in the hearing of Arshad Pappu case.

Abid Ali Ansari, IO of the case was directed to be present on hearing of the case on 22nd November but he was not present. The court was apprised that he was in Khairpur. ATC-IX Judge issued a non bailable warrant for the arrest of the investigating officer and asked police high-ups to arrest him and produce in the court on 29th November.

Alleged Lyari gangster Arshad Pappu, his brother Yasir Arafat and their confidant Juma Shera Pathan were killed on the early hours of March 17 2013.

PPPP MNA Shahjahan Baloch, the main accused in this case, was also present before the court during the hearing of the case.

A case was registered under Sections 302 (premeditated murder), 365 (kidnapping with intent secretly and wrongfully to confine person), 297 (trespassing on burial place, etc.), 392 (punishment for robbery), 109 (abetment) and 34 (common intention) of the Pakistan Penal Code read with Section 7 of the Anti-Terrorism Act at the Kalakot police station.
